It has been a whirlwind of a year and 
we cannot believe that we are already at the end!!!  

We set up the foundation Friends of VIN, NL in March this year. It took a couple of months more before we had a Friends of VIN
bank account and a PayPal account as you have to go through an approval process submitting various documents that will prove
that you are who you say you are.
But...finally we were up and running – at least on paper… and after another 4 months we had a functioning website which we
launched in the beginning of October at the ABC Treehouse in Amsterdam. About 50 people or so defied the winds and the rain
and came to hear us speak about how Friends of VIN came about and what we do.
We would like to thank everyone for their support !

Events lined up for 2012:

In October, photographer Elisabete Maisao Dos Santos and Ann Wilson went to Nepal or two weeks to document the various
volunteer programs that we offer in cooperation with VIN and to see the next project site in the rural district of Okhaldunga. We
will soon be posting more photos on our website, so keep an eye out for updates!
 

  Elisabete was also out to get some photos for a fundraising exhibition which will take place in Amsterdam, spring 2012.

  Employees at Canon Europe in Amstelveen will be privileged as they will have a sneak pre-view in March. About 20 select
     photos will be displayed at the reception area in Canon Europe and we are looking forward to the first reactions

 On the 13th of January next year, the Dutch Division of the British Scouts is hosting a fundraising event; a gang show for the
    benefit of Friends of VIN, NL and we are very excited to see the performances by the 65 scouts and cub scouts that will join to
    raise money and awareness for our projects in Nepal.

                                       "I am really impressed how quickly things can happen if a person is passion driven!
                               Friends of Volunteers Initiative Nepal (FVIN),Netherlands is a typical example set by Ann
                               Wilson after her volunteering with us in Dec 2010. With the initiation of Friends of VIN, Ann
                               has already been able to support and promote VIN’s work for the most disadvantaged 
                               communities in Nepal to the Netherlands and around. I am please to learn that FoVIN is
                               coming up with their first newsletter to their well-wishers. 
                               On this occasion, I would like to congratulate Ann and Juna for their effort to
                               support the people in need. I wish them good luck and grand success for their
                               future endeavors!
